Project Overview
The Office of Public Safety and University Initiatives & Policy collaborated in spring 2024 to administer a Safety Survey, aimed at gaining insights into the experiences of students, faculty, staff and designated campus colleagues regarding campus safety and security. Survey findings are being used to inform institutional efforts focused on enhancing campus safety and security.
The survey invited participants to address a wide range of topics including:
- Sense of safety on campus.
- Views of safety-related communications.
- Interest in learning more about recent safety enhancements.
- Input on future safety initiatives.
The survey results provide current data about perceptions of safety as well as a baseline for future assessments.
Using the results of the survey, UIP is assisting the Office of Public Safety with tracking safety improvements taking place at the university. Improvements include upgrading building security, expanding mental health support, increasing training opportunities, and more.
More information, including survey goals, next steps, and FAQs, can be found on the Office of Public Safety website.
